Handmade and signed 5.25″ tapered soup bowl with handle by North Carolina folk artist Nell Cole Graves
Nell Cole Graves (1908–1997) is the daughter of Jacon Bewit Cole, the founder of J.B. Cole Pottery near Seagrove, through which two centuries of Cole potters persisted in region. Graves’ father taught her to throw on a treadle wheel from age 9, and Graves eventually came to run the family business.

This oversized mug / large soup cup features a beautiful reddish-brown, rust-colored glaze with speckles. It has angled walls, round rim, and a tall curved handle for utilitarian function.
Excellent pre-owned condition for its age. No chips or cracks. Please see photos for details.
