Handmade folk art wood carving of a cardinal – Made in Webster County, West Virginia – 1996

Details written on the underside of the base are believed to be:
“Cardinal, 1996, Sassafras Wood From Webster County W.V., *unidentified signature*”

The carving is signed by the artist but we have been unable to determine the name. Any tips or knowledge would be appreciated.

This piece is an eye-catching and excellent example of southern wood carving, and a unique addition to any folk art or bird collection.

Excellent vintage condition. Small felt pads on the bottom of the base. Please see photos for details.
