Handmade and signed 3.5″ pitcher by North Carolina folk artist Nell Cole Graves

Nell Cole Graves (1908–1997) is the daughter of Jacon Bewit Cole, the founder of J.B. Cole Pottery near Seagrove, through which two centuries of Cole potters persisted in region. Graves’ father taught her to throw on a treadle wheel from age 9, and Graves eventually came to run the family business.

This creamer / syrup pitcher features a beautiful Red Eye Gravy glaze, which is a distinct brownish-red, speckled, and glossy glaze commonly associated with J.B. Cole Pottery.

It has a pinched spout and elegant curved handle in the traditional Cole Pottery style for pouring.

Excellent pre-owned condition for its age. No chips or cracks. Please see photos for details.
