Handmade and signed 4″ pitcher by North Carolina folk artist Nell Cole Graves

Nell Cole Graves (1908–1997) is the daughter of Jacon Bewit Cole, the founder of J.B. Cole Pottery near Seagrove, through which two centuries of Cole potters persisted in region. Graves’ father taught her to throw on a treadle wheel from age 9, and Graves eventually came to run the family business.

Made at JB Cole Pottery in Steed, NC – Year unknown but the style and signature are consistent with her work in the 1980s and early 1990s.

This creamer / syrup pitcher features a beautiful yellow drip glaze over a reddish-brown speckled base.

It has a pinched spout and thin curved handle in the traditional Cole Pottery style.

Excellent pre-owned condition for its age. No chips or cracks. Please see photos for details.
