Handmade redware ceramic bowl by South Carolina folk potter Marjorie Hawthorne.

Marjorie Hawthorne began sculpting pottery as a hobby in 1984 and eventually cultivated her art into a full-time profession from the studio built at her Gowdeysville Road home. She specializes in functional pottery but is also well-known for her face jugs in the South Carolina folk art tradition.

Made in Gaffney, SC in 2003

This piece features a beautiful hand-carved sun with light rays and semi-transparent speckled glaze.
